2007: Shellie Capla

Shellie Caplan, founder and president of Caplan Associates and Grad Advantage, was honored as the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) 2007 Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition (STAR). Each year, the HBA honors a STAR who stands apart as an exemplary role model by demonstrating a long-term commitment to the HBA’s strategic goals of furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare.

Shellie is passionate about living life to the fullest and helping others realize their potential. She has been a successful executive recruiter, specializing in the healthcare industry. She added winning entrepreneur to her credits 25 years ago when she founded Caplan Associates. In 2006, she received certification in corporate and career coaching, leading her to establish a new practice within Caplan Associates, Segue Coaching and Transition Solutions along with her newest venture of creating peer advisory boards for women entrepreneurs.

Luckily for the HBA, Shellie’s passion for people, and devotion to the advancement of women’s careers in healthcare, brought her and the organization together long ago. Honoring Shellie during the 30th anniversary of the HBA, is fitting as she’s held volunteer and leadership positions within HBA and served on the board for over 20 years.

“I am proud to be part of this organization and to turn other women on to it,” stated Shellie about her years of service. “This is such a special day for me because one of my closest friends is being honored as a woman of the year and it’s amazing for me to be sitting up there with her and all these other women. I feel very honored and privileged to be a part of it.”
