Thank you for visiting the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s website and reviewing our privacy statement. The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association is committed to protecting the privacy of our Corporate Partners, members, event attendees  and other customers. Our privacy policy is clear: We will collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us. HBA guards your privacy and appreciates your trust.

Emails and web forms

Personally identifying information that you provide by emails or web forms will be used only for such purposes as are described at the point of collection (for example on a web form), such as to update your membership record, respond to your questions or comments. If you provide contact information, HBA staff or its contractors may contact you to clarify your comment or question, or to learn about your level of customer satisfaction with our services.

Any credit card information you provide for goods or services is secure and used only for your intended purpose.

Information collected and stored automatically

During your visit as you browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we will automatically gather and store certain information about your visit but not about you. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about the visit:

  1. The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if a private Internet access account, or "aschool.edu" if connected from a university) and IP address from which access to our website is gained;

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association uses software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage.

Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1001 and 1030. Information also may be used for authorized law enforcement investigations. Except for the above purposes, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits.

Terms of Use and Other Policies

Please read these terms and conditions of use carefully before using the HBA Academy.  

By using the HBA Academy, you signify your consent to these terms of use. The HBA reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these terms at any time. Please check these terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the HBA Academy following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept these changes. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the HBA Academy platform and its related services. 

ACCOUNT ACCESS & PERMISSIONS

As part of your membership with the HBA, the HBA Academy offers live and on-demand educational content. You must log into your HBA account and navigate to the HBA Academy to browse the catalog and register for, purchase, or access this content. Need help? Contact Academy@HBAnet.org.  

The access privileges granted to you for the HBA Academy, either through membership or purchase, are non-transferable. Any passwords or permissions cannot be passed on to others.

The HBA has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment. Unacceptable behavior is defined as:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
  • Verbal abuse of any learner, speaker, volunteer, industry partner, HBA staff member, service provider, or other event guest. (Examples of verbal abuse include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or national origin, use of profanity, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations or threatening or stalking.)

If we believe you are abusing our policies, the HBA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal of your account from the HBA Academy without warning or refund. The HBA also reserves the right to restrict your account’s access to future events and offerings. 

CONTENT

Restrictions on Use of Course Materials 

Unless otherwise noted, all materials, including, but not limited to, articles, images, illustrations, designs, icons, photographs, videos, e-learning courses and audio files that are part of the HBA Academy (collectively, the "Content") are protected by copyright and owned, controlled, or licensed by HBA and/or the party credited as the provider of the Content. You shall abide by all additional copyright notices, information, or restrictions contained in any Content accessed through the HBA Academy. 

No Content from the HBA Academy may be copied, rebroadcast, shared, reproduced, framed, hyperlinked, republished, downloaded, uploaded, posted, transmitted, altered, or distributed in any way. Content identified as “Handouts” may be downloaded for your personal, non-commercial use only, provided you keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices. Copying or storing of “Handouts” for a purpose other than personal use is expressly prohibited without prior permission from the HBA and/or the copyright holder identified in the copyright notice contained in the “Content”. 

For purposes of these terms, the use of any “Content” on any other website or networked computer environment is prohibited. All trademarks, service marks, and trade names are proprietary to the HBA. 

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Content Disclosure 

The HBA and HBA Academy may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help create certain content. If AI is used, we will make reasonable efforts to label or disclose this in a clear and transparent manner.  

Not Legal or Financial Advice 

The content contained in the HBA Academy courses has been created by subject matter experts in the field in consultation with HBA content experts. Course content is not intended to constitute legal or financial advice and should not be construed as such. The HBA and its affiliates are not liable for any damages arising from the use or misuse of course content, and we strongly encourage the independent verification of any information before making decisions that could have legal or financial implications.  

No Solicitation 

Postings and messages should not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services. The HBA reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban sources of those solicitations. 

Disclaimer: Several areas of the HBA Academy allow for sending or posting messages. The HBA does not take responsibility for the views, opinions, remarks, statements, and/or other expressions made by participants in these chats and explicitly disclaims any legal liability for the content of any messages that appear on the chat medium. Participants are solely responsible for the content of their communications and postings. 

Live Event Cancellation/Postponement 

In the event of an unforeseen circumstance resulting in the necessary postponement or cancellation of a live event (i.e., natural disaster), the HBA will make every attempt to inform registrants promptly via email. For rescheduled events, all registrants will receive notification of the updated date and time. You will then have the choice to either attend at the rescheduled time or view the on-demand version. 

Membership Inclusions 

Some learning opportunities within the HBA Academy Catalog are provided at no cost to current HBA members, while other opportunities may come at a full or discounted rate. Additionally, some content may be only accessible to learners who are current HBA members. For more information about membership, click here

Certificates of Completion 

You will earn a certificate from completing each course or certification program, which you will be able to download from your HBA Academy profile.   

Time Required to Complete Courses 

The duration of learning activities varies widely, from micro-lessons to courses to multi-course curricula/pathways. An estimated time of completing a course or length of a video will be provided in the course or session description. Additionally, duration of each course or session will be inside the Course Catalog.   

Frequency of New Courses 

The HBA is continuously curating new learning opportunities with industry experts. These opportunities as well as topic-specific bundles are developed and added to the platform throughout the year. 

Course Feedback 

We encourage our users to leave feedback on all completed learning opportunities. This feedback is used in aggregate form to help guide the HBA in the creation of new content and determining the quality and relevance of current content. 

Course Comments 

If you have a concern or suggestion related to the content of an HBA-produced course you have taken, let us know using the HBA Academy Course Comments web form. 

PAYMENT

HBA accepts credit and debit card payments. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. The HBA uses an encryption token to keep your data secure; we do not store your full credit card information.  

No credits or refunds will be offered for on-demand purchases. Registrations to live events/courses may be refunded or transferred prior to the day of the event/course by emailing HBA@HBAnet.org

HBA Event Data Policy 

By agreeing to this policy, you understand that your information (name, title, company, and email only) will be provided to qualifying sponsor(s) of the event. The sponsors will not share your information with any other party and have signed an agreement, which states how they may use your information. By agreeing to this policy, you acknowledge sponsors may contact you regarding products or services that they may provide. 

Attendee Privacy and Communication 

Registration and attendance at, or participation in HBA Academy offerings constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use of data by HBA related to that offering, including purposes such as event-specific communications and marketing, necessary logistical planning procedures including personal demographics and preferences. Your virtual registration may include technology that monitors your activities throughout the meetings, such as session attendance and virtual booths visited. 

Attendee Media 

Registrations and attendance at, or participation in HBA Academy offerings constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution (both now and in the future) by HBA of the registrant or attendee's image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes. 

ACCESSIBILITY

Closed Captioning 

Closed Captioning and transcripts are available for all learning activities. You can turn captions on/off and access the transcripts from within each activity. 

Mobile Accessibility 

The HBA Academy platform can be accessed via mobile devices the same way you would access the platform from your desktop.
