The HBA Welcomes LaToya Tapscott

Welcome LaToya Tapscott

We are thrilled to officially welcome LaToya Tapscott as the new Senior Director, Global Head of the Gender Equity Think Tank. LaToya joined the HBA in late July and has immersed herself in the onboarding process to better understand the HBA’s mission, product offerings, members, and corporate partners. She will focus on strategic planning, governance, and the development of products and partnerships to drive the Gender Equity Think Tank’s growth and influence.

With over 15 years of experience in non-profit membership associations, LaToya brings proven strategic leadership and a deep passion for driving stakeholder engagement and fostering vibrant communities. Her previous role as Senior Director of Digital Health Communities at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives saw her successfully engage healthcare technology executives and manage strategic partnerships. Additionally, LaToya has made significant contributions at the Association of Corporate Counsel and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, where she developed and executed impactful programs for committee members, volunteer leaders, and corporate sponsors.

LaToya is deeply committed to giving back to her professional community through volunteer service. She serves on committees with organizations such as Association Women Technology Champions, Black Association Executives, and ASAE's Healthcare Community Advisory Committee. LaToya resides in Maryland with her family, holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and is a Certified Association Executive.

LaToya's arrival marks a significant milestone for the Think Tank, and we are excited and grateful that she has stepped into this role. She is ready to listen to each member's needs and feedback, ensuring that our collective efforts reflect and advance the HBA’s goals for gender equity. Since the launch of the Think Tank, we have brought together senior executives from various industries to discuss and implement the necessary changes to accelerate the pace of gender equity, diversity, and inclusion—ultimately transforming our industry. We believe in the power of collaboration to create lasting impact and change for the present and future generations of women leaders.

As LaToya takes the helm, know that she is committed to listening, fostering bold and productive conversations, driving action, and amplifying our external voice to inspire change in the workplace.
