2013: Eve Dryer

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) named Eve Dryer its 2013 Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition (STAR). Each year the HBA honors one STAR who stands apart as a truly engaging volunteer. The selected individual has demonstrated a long-term commitment to furthering the advancement and impact of women in healthcare worldwide.

“Eve embodies what the HBA is all about,” said Julie Kampf, president of JBK Associates and past president of the HBA Metro chapter. “Since the beginning of her tenure as a volunteer more than 10 years ago, she’s dedicated her time, talents, innovation, friendship and passion to advancing other women in the healthcare industry, and I am proud of everything she has accomplished. She truly deserves this recognition.”

Upon receiving the award, Eve stated, “I am so honored and humbled by this accolade. I’d like to dedicate it to the hundreds of other HBA volunteers who work together to build and maximize the leadership roles women play in shaping and delivering healthcare around the world. My involvement with the HBA community has allowed me to learn from and work alongside some of the most visionary leaders the industry has ever known, and to play a part in developing the next generation of healthcare leaders. It’s an exhilarating ride–and I urge other women to hop on board.”

Eve Dryer’s selfless dedication to the HBA has truly strengthened our organization. Eve served on the HBA board, the Metro chapter board, and was a founding board member for the Greater Philadelphia chapter.  She co-chaired the Leadership Conference in 2006 and 2007, introducing the first RFI process during her tenure. While serving on the HBA corporate board in 2008-2011, Eve created the role of key stakeholder relations for the HBA overseeing the advisory board and worked actively to expand HBA’s reach and value to sectors across the healthcare arena.  Eve oversaw the Rising Star and Advancing Commitment Engagement (ACE) awards committee for two years, and has regularly served on the Woman of the Year (WOTY) event committee, helping to deepen HBA’s relationships with WOTY and Honorable Mentor recipients.

Throughout her 25 years of work in healthcare communications, Eve’s unwavering passion and dedication to supporting healthcare access, patient engagement and quality outcomes have earned her the respect and admiration of her peers. For nearly 10 years, Eve worked extensively in the managed marketed arena, serving as a senior communications consultant to CIGNA, prior to joining Aetna Health Plans in 1995 as the head of communications. In 1998, Eve founded Vox Medica Health Care Public Relations, now part of Vox Medica, Inc., and worked as partner and owner through 2012.

Her communications work has spanned a number of therapeutic categories, including neurology, mental health, oncology and respiratory, as well as health initiatives that specifically address the unmet needs of seniors, women and multicultural populations. Eve was an integral part of an award-winning campaign with the National Coalition on Aging called My Medicare Matters, national community activation program that enrolled seniors in Medicare Part D. Her work has garnered four Silver Anvil awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), numerous Philadelphia PRSA Pepperpot awards and recognition as a 2008 Mover and Shaker in the annual PharmaVOICE 100.

Prior to founding Vox Medica Health Care Public Relations, Eve served on the global health management team of Manning, Selvage & Lee (MSL), where she was the managed care advisor for all healthcare clients and also directed the formation of MSL’s advocacy relations practice. Eve was recently elected chair of the board of directors of Healthy Women, which in its 25 years, has grown to be regarded as the trusted health information resource for women, and has been named by ForbesWoman as one of the “Top 100 Websites for Women” for three consecutive years. She serves on the executive committee of the Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia. Eve has also served on the steering committee for BIO’s Diversity Summit since the event debuted in 2009, bringing together leaders in workforce development, science education, health disparities and community outreach. Eve holds a degree in communications from American University. After graduating, she spent several years in Israel, working on the editorial staff of The Jerusalem Post.
