2009: Barbara Pritchard
The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) announced Barbara Pritchard as its 2009 Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition (STAR).
Each year, the HBA honors a STAR who stands apart as an exemplary role model by demonstrating a long-term commitment to the HBA’s strategic goals of furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare.
Barbara is an HBA chair emeritus and has served on the board of directors since 2001. She helped develop the concept for what became the HBA's landmark Empowerment, Diversity, Growth, Excellence (E.D.G.E.) in Leadership Study, which benchmarks women’s progression in leadership roles in the healthcare industry. She serves as chair of the HBA’s chapter/affiliate mentors and has been a mentor to five chapters and affiliates.
For nearly two decades, Ms. Pritchard has been the president of Intermedica, Inc. She served as a past chair of the International Strategies Committee for the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education, and past president of the Association of Medical Publishers and the Healthcare Marketing Communications Council.
“The HBA has become the leading women’s leadership organization in the healthcare industry, and that growth is a direct result of our talented volunteers," said Ms. Zak. “Barbara has truly been an inspiration to HBA, tirelessly giving of herself in a wide variety of leadership roles for many years. We are thankful for all her service, and for all she continues to do to take the organization to a new level to help shape future leaders in healthcare.”
