Meet Greselda Butler

Why is being a Member Leader for the HBA especially important to you? Being a woman leader and having the opportunity to hone my skills alongside other women leaders in healthcare, allows me to learn from their experiences and to share my own. It’s definitely steel sharpening steel.

How has your involvement with the HBA expanded your network? The HBA has connected me with so many incredible women and allies from all over the U.S., including experts with whom I can collaborate. This includes my own colleagues whom I don’t always get to see in person; thus, I truly appreciate it when we come together for lunch and learns or even better, at the HBA Annual Meeting.

Why does your employer encourage you to stay engaged with the HBA? Otsuka’s career development pathways are a standout employee benefit. We are encouraged to own and be proactive about our professional development and the HBA membership and resources expand both access and opportunities.

How do you see yourself contributing to the HBA’s vision of Creating Women Leaders for Life? I always want to model the way. For anyone who doesn’t see themselves as a leader, I want to remind them to embrace the nonlinear path to leadership. I am also a STEM scholar mentor, helping to develop and support future healthcare leaders.

What skills have you acquired or strengthened during your time as an HBA Member Leader? Networking, marketing, communication, and time management skills.

What is your favorite part of serving as a Member Leader for the HBA? Each event that I plan is a fresh opportunity to listen to feedback and to continue to deliver a high quality of educational (and other) events.
