We believe that supporting the advancement of women is a business imperative that strengthens the healthcare industry and benefits society as a whole.

Staying Focused on Our Mission
As a global organization with members in more than 80 countries, the HBA is a nonpartisan Association that works to ensure that women around the world have the opportunities, support, and leadership presence needed to advance in their healthcare careers.
As an organization, we are driven by our mission to further the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare. The world needs women operating at 100% capacity, and the HBA’s vision is clear: we are Creating Women Leaders for Life©. The HBA will continue to create opportunities, foster leadership development, and advocate for a future where women have a central role in shaping the healthcare industry.
We remain focused on:
- Advancing Women in Leadership: Women comprise the majority of the global healthcare workforce, yet they remain underrepresented in leadership roles. Only about 30% of senior leadership positions in healthcare are held by women1. We will continue advocating for greater representation in executive and decision-making roles. We will also continue to ensure the healthcare pipeline never runs dry of young, motivated, and incentivized women coming to the global healthcare workplace.
- Advancing Women’s Health: When women aren’t healthy, neither are families, communities, or economies. Yet, significant disparities in women’s health persist. Closing this gap is not just a moral imperative – it is essential to the well-being of societies and economies worldwide. The HBA is committed to accelerating solutions that drive meaningful progress in improving women’s health and achieving health equity.
- Driving Health Equity through Representation: The best healthcare decisions are made when those at the table reflect the diverse patient populations they serve. We remain committed to advancing representative workforces that drives better health outcomes. Around the world, lives depend on us—not only to sustain the progress we’ve made but to break through barriers and create even greater impact.
- Ensuring Women’s Voices Shape the Future of Healthcare: Whether in clinical research, medical innovation, or patient engagement, women’s perspectives are critical to the success of the healthcare industry. Our commitment to fostering their mentorship, professional development, and leadership training remains stronger than ever.

Our Call to Action
Our mission remains constant. The HBA’s call to action for our members, corporate partners, and global stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem is to:
- Invest in women’s leadership and ensuring that workplace policies support career progression for the women who are the lifeblood and majority of the global healthcare industry.
- Champion inclusive, evidence-based healthcare solutions that enhance patient outcomes and address inequities in women’s health.
- Engage in conversations that shape the future of healthcare, ensuring that women’s voices remain at the forefront.
