HBA Staff Spotlight: Danielle Trama Recognized for Mission-Driven Impact

Each spotlight offers an introduction to the individuals who help realize the HBA’s vision, Creating Leaders for Life. In this series, we share our staff stories, contributions, and the unique perspectives they bring to the HBA’s global community. 

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Danielle Trama, Director of Global Business Development & Sales. 

Danielle brings more than 13 years of experience in sales and customer support across both for-profit and non-profit sectors, establishing herself as a leader in building relationships and driving results. She joined the HBA in March 2023 as Associate Manager, Sales, quickly earning a reputation for strategic insight and consistently delivering results. Her performance and vision led to her promotion to Director, Global Business Development & Sales, where she now leads initiatives to grow the HBA’s market presence while advancing the organization’s mission and core values. 

“Danielle brings so much heart and drive to everything she does,” said Varduhi Kyureghyan, Chief Financial Officer, HBA. “Her ability to connect with people, think creatively, go the extra mile, and deliver real impact makes her invaluable part of the HBA.” 

Before joining the HBA team, Danielle held a range of sales and management positions, including seven years as Senior Account Executive at Dispensary of Hope, collaborating closely with pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors. She also served as a Branch Manager for a staffing agency, where she honed her skills in client relations, team leadership, and business growth. Her professional background gives her a deep understanding of market dynamics and the needs of both clients and colleagues. 

“As a leader, Danielle sets the tone with compassion, clarity, and uplifting energy,” said Lauren Ramsden, Manager, Business Development & Sales, HBA. “She leads by example, balancing excellence with empathy and creates a space where others feel empowered to grow, contribute, and be their authentic selves. Being part of her team is not just a professional privilege, but a deeply meaningful experience.”

Q: What has your work with the HBA meant to you both personally and professionally? 

“Prior to joining the HBA, I worked for a non-profit pharmaceutical distributor, primarily in the generic pharma industry. When I started in 2016, I was one of only a handful of women at these massive conferences. My manager and CEO were both men, and until I took the time to sit down and have a conversation with them, they didn’t realize the challenges I had faced along with other women in the industry. Working at the HBA gives me the opportunity to help women find their voice and speak up for themselves. I’ve noticed a big shift over the years, with far more women entering the healthcare and life sciences industry, but there’s still much work to be done. I love that I get to be part of that work.” 

Q: What are some of your favorite HBA memories and milestones? 

“The very first HBA event I attended was the 2023 Woman of the Year celebration. Being in a room full of so many women and advocates was such a stark contrast to the other healthcare events I’d attended. The energy was electric and incredibly inspiring. I remember tearing up as our Woman of the Year took the stage and shared her story. In that moment, I felt like I truly belonged, and I knew I was in the right place.” 

Q: Please share any interests or accomplishments outside of work you'd like to be included in your Staff Spotlight 

“Outside of work, I love being outdoors with my husband and our four furry companions, two dogs and two cats, who keep us on our toes. We’ve called Colorado home for three years and still have so much to explore! When we’re not out hiking or enjoying the fresh air, I enjoy DIY projects, crafting, and curling up with a good book.”
