Healthcare is at an inflection point. Healthcare professionals are being asked to do more than ever, often while managing growing demands on their physical health, mental energy, and personal responsibilities. As pressures on the workforce continue to grow, sustaining vitality, the energy, physical capacity, and resilience needed to perform, lead, and innovate, has become essential to the future of healthcare.
The "Vitality at Work: Aligning Human Capacity and Organizational Performance" survey examines how sustained mental, physical, and caregiving related health strain affects healthcare professionals and how that strain shapes individual performance, leadership readiness, innovation, and organizational resilience. It examines the systemic drivers of strain, the organizational practices that support sustainable performance, and the direct connection between workforce vitality and enterprise outcomes.
Building on the HBA Think Tank’s prior Mental Health, Wellness and Work Survey, this research moves beyond awareness of burnout to explore the functional and organizational consequences of workforce strain. It examines how work design, leadership practices, and organizational systems either support or undermine workforce vitality, and what leading organizations are doing differently to enable sustainable performance and organizational strength.

This global study is open to professionals across the healthcare ecosystem. Whether you work in clinical care, administration, research, operations, or executive leadership, your perspective is critical to helping us understand how workforce vitality affects performance, leadership capacity, and organizational strength. Your insights will help illuminate the realities facing today’s healthcare workforce and inform solutions that support sustainable performance across roles, functions, and career stages.
Why Should You Take This Survey?
Your responses will directly inform strategies to strengthen workforce vitality, leadership readiness, and organizational resilience across healthcare. The insights gathered will help identify where work design, leadership practices, and organizational systems support or hinder sustainable performance. All responses will remain confidential and will contribute to data-driven recommendations that help healthcare organizations build stronger leadership pipelines, improve workforce sustainability, and enhance long-term organizational performance.
Participation Incentive
As a thank you for your time and insights, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a raffle to win one of three $50 Amazon gift cards. Participation in the raffle is optional and not required to complete the survey. If you would like to enter the raffle without completing the survey, please contact thinktank@hbanet.org.

This raffle is conducted in compliance with all applicable laws governing nonprofit organizations and is organized by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), a 501(c)(6) nonprofit association.
- No Purchase Necessary: No payment or purchase is required to enter or win. Completing the survey is not required for raffle entry. Individuals may enter the raffle by emailing [thinktank@hbanet.org] with their full name, email address, and the subject line "HBA Think Tank Survey Raffle Entry."
- Eligibility: The raffle is open to legal residents worldwide, aged 18 or older, except where prohibited by local laws. Employees of the HBA and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
- Odds of Winning: The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.
- Entry Details: Participants can enter by completing the survey or following the alternative entry method outlined above. Only one entry per person is allowed.
- Prize Information: Three winners will each receive a $50 Amazon gift card. Prizes are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
- Winner Notification: Winners will be selected randomly and notified via the email provided. If a winner does not respond within 7 business days, an alternate winner may be selected.
