Since then, we have evolved our mission, noted below, to define precisely what we mean by advancementand how we mean to achieve it. In doing so, we push ourselves forward with a clear and shared purpose, and we hold ourselves accountable with a relentless focus on measuring our gender parity progress as a United Force for Change.Today, we are a global community of individuals and organizations from across the healthcare and life sciences industry committed to:A c h i e v i n g g e n d e r pa r i t y i n l e a d e r s h i p p o s i t ion s :Our members, volunteers and nearly 150 corporate partners are moving the needle ongender parity. In 2019, 93 percent of our members said they had advanced in their careerssince joining the HBA, and 70 percent of our volunteers said serving as an HBA volunteerhelped them demonstrate leadership skills. Further, data shows that women at companiesthat have joined our Gender Parity Collaborative are better represented at all leadershiplevelsfrom the first step of manager up to the C-suite.Fa c i l i tat i n g c a r e e r a n d b u s i n e s s c on n e c t ion s :Our community is continuing to build connections at all levelsfrom local events to globalconferences to online networks. In 2019, we held 419 events with a total of 22,103registrants. Meanwhile, our LinkedIn community grew by 97 percent. And 69 percent of ourvolunteers said serving as an HBA volunteer has helped build their network.Providing effective practices that enable organizationsto realize the full potential of their female talent:Our members are building the skills, confidence and relationships they need to becomestronger leaders. Nearly 1,000 HBA members took part in our mentoring programs in 2019,gaining key growth opportunities as both mentors and mentees. And 81 percent of ournearly 500 volunteers said theyve taken on a new role, moved to a new function or taken ona new significant challenge since joining the HBA.We continue to work to accomplish our mission through strong business networks, education, research, advocacy, and recognition for individuals and companies.
