CEO Update - July

CEO Update

Greetings!

I’m excited to debut the inaugural issue of my CEO Update with you. This quarterly communication aims to share insights from my listening tour with stakeholders, perspective from HBA’s Global Board of Directors, and my vision for taking the HBA to the next level.

First, I want to thank you for welcoming me with the radical hospitality for which the HBA is well known. I am nearing the four-month mark in my role as HBA’s CEO, and it has been an incredible journey so far (captured in this recent article).

Speaking of an incredible journey, HBA’s 2022 Annual Report was released this week. A New Era of Leadership recaps the impressive impact and outcomes we accomplished last year. I encourage you to review so that you are able appreciate how our network grew to support women in our healthcare ecosystem. Please take a moment to also share the report via the link or from HBA’s social channels.

On behalf of the HBA staff team, I’m happy to inform you that next week, you’ll be experiencing the first exciting step in HBA’s digital transformation via the soft launch of our new website. This is a significant milestone in our efforts to enhance the overall member and Corporate Partner experience, and improve digital interactions with the HBA.

Also, if you couldn’t attend last week’s LinkedIn Live featuring a conversation with The Female Quotient’s (FQ) CEO Shelley Zalis, I encourage you to view the recording. During our discussion, Shelley and I talked about the disappointing World Economic Forum report that it will take women 132 years to achieve gender parity and the importance of taking action now to ramp up that timeline. Among other things, we discussed a game-changing initiative being developed with the First Ladies of the G20 countries that will help women break through the “paper ceiling” barrier holding back individuals without university degrees.

The Female Quotient also invited me to be part of their Equality Lounge taking place prior to the G20 Summit in New Delhi. I’ll be hosting a panel discussion on the importance of gender parity in the healthcare ecosystem, how women are leading the advancement of health equity, and the urgency of developing a pipeline of women for the workforce of the future. I’m excited that our partners from Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Takeda, and Merck will join our panel in the Equality Lounge as well as at a special event the evening before for HBA members and allies.

As you can surmise, this is an incredible opportunity to build awareness with new and influential audiences about the HBA and our work supporting women in healthcare. More details about the two India events will be available soon.

While there’s more to share, I’ll pause and encourage you to stay updated with all that’s happening via HBA’s LinkedIn channel, my LinkedIn page, and HBA’s website which will host my next CEO Update early this fall.

Thank you for all that you do for the HBA. Your support and commitment continue to propel us forward as we Power the Possibilities for the future of women in healthcare.

With gratitude,
Mary Stutts
