Meet Marie-Caroline Chauvet

Volunteering with the HBA is especially important to me because I am deeply committed to empowering women in the workforce (and in all areas of life!). We still have room to go to remove real and perceived barriers and shift the paradigm for leadership, management, and healthcare.

I volunteer for the united force for change because individuals can make a difference at their level, but the power is in the collective action of all of us. Additionally, volunteering with the HBA has given me visibility during events such as the European Leadership Summit and through awards and recognitions.

My favorite HBA events that I’ve attended were the HBA European Leadership Summit in Berlin in 2018 and the one in Paris in 2019 for the inspiration provided by the speakers, those from the pharma world and those from nonprofit organizations that truly raised the bar in demonstrating leadership and contribution.

Volunteering has expanded my network by giving me the opportunity to connect with young women I mentored, whether officially or unofficially and allowing me to give back; connecting with senior leaders at the EMEA level and now with the Global Board; women – and men- who are committed to making a contribution despite what they already have on their plate. A community of like-minded individuals who get together for the same goals, that is precious!

My employer encourages me to volunteer for HBA because Insigniam is committed to a world that works for all and they recognize we need to intentionally take action to continue to move the needle for women and for health equity. Supporting a global organization like HBA is a natural fit for our team which operates internationally and works extensively with health systems and healthcare organizations of all types.

What skills have you acquired or fine-tuned during your time as an HBA volunteer that you feel will help you Accelerate Transformational Leadership? Leading a team of volunteers from diverse backgrounds, personalities, skills and experiences is humbling and requires adapting to what individuals may need while ensuring we make a visible impact and keep the shared purpose alive.

My favorite part of volunteering for the HBA is…working with such committed and diverse individuals, making something happen while enjoying the work we do together.

I first got involved with the HBA when…I was nominated as a Rising Star and attended the 2014 WOTY event. I was impressed and inspired by the energy and commitment in the room!

What would be your advice to someone thinking about joining or getting more involved with the HBA? Jump in, contribute what you can; I can promise you it will be rich with new connections, new skills, and a shared sense of pride in making a difference to women in the workplace as well as for their life.
