HBA Philadelphia honored two volunteers with Spark Awards at the recent "Mindful Leadership" event at The Pyramid Club on 23 August. Susan Spitz, the Philadelphia chapter director-at-large of programming, recently accepted her chapter leadership role a few months ago and was ready to tackle the challenges. She jumped immediately into a perfect storm of program planning with three events taking place in less than a month's time in late summer. Sue helped to coordinate the 23 August "Mindful Leadership" event in partnership with the West Chester chapter while also building out her programming team and focusing on 2019 strategic planning. Sue is also concurrently planning for three signature events in September, October and November. Philadelphia chapter president, Amy Turnquist, shared that "Sue has handled it all with grace and a professionalism that inspires me."

The second volunteer award winner was Lisa MacDonald who has also recently stepped into her role on the programming team with HBA Philadelphia. Lisa has made herself indispensable in a very short time. She was actively engaged as a volunteer in planning and hosting our 8 August networking event and is also taking a lead role in helping to plan the chapter's 6 September signature event, "Getting Personal: HCP and Consumer Marketing Trends You Can't Ignore". She will be leading the event planning committee and building out her own team at the same time. Lisa demonstrates a strong collaborative spirit in everything that she does.
