On 29 May, HBA Berlin had a wonderful event on how to use mindfulness in leadership, and in general life as well.
What is mindfulness? It is the psychological process of bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which can be developed through the practice of meditation and other training.
The keynote speaker was Gerald Blomeyer, the founder of a successful PR agency in Berlin. In search for inner balance, he learned zen meditation and worked eight years in India and Nepal for NGOs.
Upon his return, he founded blomeyer.berlin to interlink his spiritual findings with his knowledge about business. In his lecture, he combines both worlds, and teaches how to integrate mindfulness into daily work life.
We practiced some of the exercises during the talk and learned how to identify the place where the feeling raises in our body, when we become irritated, upset or aggravated. The belief is, if you can recognize this moment, you can decide to act and not react to it, and also how to act on it. It is the first step to improve communication and relationship at work and in life. Here is a “take home” message slide for mindfulness in leadership.
