Editorial guidelines for The HBAdvantage
- Authors must be HBA members-in-good standing.
- Requests for submitting an article should be sent to Editor-in-Chief Donna K. Ramer (dramer@strategcations.com) with a 1 paragraph description of the proposed contents.
- The editors will determine if the article is appropriate and, if so, the length of the article (feature vs tips, for example), suggested content (e.g., sidebars) and the appropriate issue/deadline.
- Topics must be new and not covered in either The HBAdvantage or its predecessor (The Bulletin) for two years prior unless otherwise deemed appropriate by the editors.
- Authors may not byline an article within two years of having an article published in The HBAdvantage or the e-bulletin unless otherwise deemed appropriate by the editors. (Exception is for editorial staff of The HBAdvantage who are responsible for specific columns or regularly cover HBA events.)
- Feature articles must include quotes from at least three different sources, one of which must be an HBA member.
- Articles must provide substantive information for both individual members and Corporate Partners and may not be promotional for the individual or her/his company.
- Articles must be original content and not have appeared in any print or online media outlet or company’s promotional materials prior to inclusion in The HBAdvantage.
- The editors reserve the right to edit copy and/or hold an article for an issue other than the original agreed-upon. The author will be asked to rewrite the article should the editors determine significant changes are necessary (such as shortening an article).
Please contact Donna Ramer (dramer@strategcations.com) with questions or article submissions.
