HBA Expands Globally
The HBA has expanded geographically to meet the needs of women throughout the country. Originally, events were held in only in the U.S., specifically New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Over the years, members relocated and wanted to continue the networking and skill-building programs that only the HBA offers. The HBA therefore began to expand to locally meet the needs of career minded, professional businesswomen in healthcare across the country and around the world.
In 2000, the first HBA chapter was launched in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by the San Francisco Bay Area, California and Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. In 2003, the Metro Chapter (Connecticut, New York and New Jersey) was spun off from the then national US organization. Also in 2003, three additional chapters were created: Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Mid-Atlantic (Maryland, Delaware, Washington, DC, and Virginia).
In 2006, two more chapters launched:
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina followed by
Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania and the New Jersey counties directly surrounding Philadelphia). 2007 saw the launch of the
Europe Chapter and 2008 promises more growth with affiliates in
San Antonio, Texas;
Southern California;
St. Louis, Missouri and
Ohio. There continues to be interest from HBA members to introduce additional affiliates worldwide and the viability of these new groups is being investigated.
Please visit each Chapter or Affiliate section of the website to get periodic updates on their continued progress and future expansion plans.
